Link or Copy Items from your Learning Object Repository

Introduction
The Learning Object Repository (LOR) is a place for you to store course content which can be used across courses, course sections, departments and schools. Every Faculty with an ANGEL account has a personal LOR. Departments and schools can request a LOR to maintain standardized content for their curriculum.

Important Differences Between Linking and Copying
You can link to an item in the repository or you can copy it into your course. Each process gives you different results:

  • If you link to an item in the LOR, this item is not actually imported into your ANGEL course. The original remains in the LOR, and a representational image appears in the course that just links to the original content item.

The advantage of linking to content in the LOR is that if you need to make a change to the content, you edit the original in the LOR and the changes cascade to all of the linked versions of the item. With linked items, you upload the item once and not multiple times.

  • Copying is actually importing a duplicate of an item into your course.
