Introduction
 You can give a grade for participation in a discussion forum. If you want that grade to appear in the gradebook, complete the Assignment Tab under Settings for the forum.

• Navigate to the Discussion forum you want to grade
• Choose Utilities from the menu
  
• Click Grade Forum
  

• The Grading Utility collects and presents student activity and instructor score data that is useful for formulating each student’s grade. It shows:
  - total posts for each student
  - number of top level posts
  - number of replies
  - an average of the peer rating (if enabled)
  - if you have assigned a maximum possible score for this forum in the Settings/Interaction tab that will appear in the possible column.
  
   

• View all of one student's posts by clicking on his or her name.
  
   

• When you have read the posts, return to the previous screen by clicking the Done button.

• Type the grade in the Gradebook Grade column. Enter any comments in the comment field. Comments will remain with the grade.
