Add A Drop Box 

Introduction
A drop box is a folder created by an instructor where class members can upload files to hand in assignments.  Instructors can then review, graded and return the assignment using the same drop box.

Within each drop box, ANGEL creates individual folders for every student who uploads a file. Students can see only the files in their own folders, and cannot delete files.

Instructors can see and delete everything in the drop box. A drop box can be available to the entire class, or restricted to groups defined in the class roster.

Whereas in BlackBoard there was one drop box for the whole course, in Angel you add a drop box to any assignment in which you want students to hand in work.

Insert a drop box into a lesson
To add a new drop box to a lesson:

  • Display the lesson or folder in which you want the drop box to reside.

  • Under the page title, click the Add Content link.

  • On the Create an Item screen, click the words Drop Box.

  • The New Drop Box screen appears with eight tabs of information.

  • On the Content tab:

    • Enter the name of the drop box

    • Cut and paste the assignment description into the text box.

    • To attach a file, click the Insert Content Link icon.

      Click Browse to browse for the file to upload.
      Click the file name and click Open.
      Click Upload File.
      Click the name of the file shown in the box. The file link appears in your text box.

  • Use the Access tab to restrict access to the drop box to only certain teams. The default is that all students can use this drop box.

  • Use the Submission tab to restrict the number of times students can use this drop box. The default is no restriction.

  • Use the Review tab to allow students to see more than their own submissions. The default is that they see only their own submissions.

  • Use the Standards tab to connect this activity to a course or institutional standard.

  • Use the Objectives tab to connect this activity to a course objective.

  • Use the Automate tab to specify an Agent, that is, a computer procedure of some kind.

  • Use the Assignment tab to set up this item in the Gradebook.

    • From the settings, choose New Assignment.

    • Enter the number of points possible.

  • Click Save. The drop box item displays on your page ready for student input.
